Senior Project Engineer

The Senior Project Engineer/Project Engineer will lead the design or technical components of a design and provide direction to junior staff for production of the design and implementation of the project plan.

) license in Nevada and/or California P.
L.
S.
license, or ability to obtain reciprocity within 6 months.
The Sr.
Project Engineer/Project Engineer will be brought into the proposal and scoping process, greater levels of direct client coordination, and project management for projects to assist the Project Manager while learning and mastering these roles.
Advises, mentors, and/or manages junior staff.
This position can oversee the whole project process for larger, more complex projects and is potentially developing specific technical expertise in one or more areas of engineering.
This position will work out of a Lumos & Associates office:
Nevada - Reno, Carson City, Fallon, South Lake Tahoe, or California - El Dorado Hills.
Office location will be determined as part of the selection process.
Key Responsibilities Lead the development of engineering drawings using CAD/Civil 3D software.
Design in a manner according to established industry standards and state or federal construction policies.
Conduct research as needed.
This position will work in coordination with the Project Manger but work independently a significant amount of the time.
Review engineering drawings to ensure they meet company standards when stamping.
Use engineering standards for preparation of plans, field visits, report writing, and construction assistance activities.
Prepare or guide the preparation of due diligence/site analysis reports, engineer's opinion of probable construction costs, utility infrastructure design computations, technical reports, and civil design for review by a Project Manager.
Serve as the engineer in responsible charge for production of final civil design drawings/may stamp project deliverables including plans, specifications, reports, and calculations.
Delegate or guide the preparation of permit applications for applicable municipal agencies.
Coordinate with early in career staff to ensure work is being completed in a timely manner consistent with the project schedule and is accurate and suitable for the project scope of work.
Conduct internal design meetings with team members as needed.
Coordinate with outside utility companies and municipalities to gather information necessary for design.
Prepare and/or guide the preparation of technical reports, cost estimates, and permitting documents.
Lead field visits, construction site visits, and provide assistance related to the aspects of construction assistance activities (verify quantities, field reports, process pay applications, etc.
).
Prepare models or guide computer modeling for analysis of water, sewer, and stormwater systems.
Prepare or guide the preparation of reports based upon modeling in coordination with the team.
Ensure that project files, reports, correspondence and applications are organized within the project folder.
Perform miscellaneous engineering, drafting, or construction-related duties as assigned.
Mentor interns, engineering technicians, staff engineers, and project engineers.
Supervise direct reports, including annual reviews, career path guidance, and timesheet reviews.
Assist the Project Manager in developing deadlines, determining priorities, breaking projects into tasks for completion or delegation to junior staff as needed and coordinating with the project team.
Assist the Project Manager by overseeing portions of budgets, especially for direct reports.
Confer with planning, engineering, and design staff to determine design modifications and enter editing information into computer.
Assist Project Managers with business development.
This primarily comes from interactions with existing clients and ability to generate new work from existing clients.
On a case by case basis begin managing invoicing for clients.
Independently interact with clients.
Develop or assist in development of proposals and project scoping.
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or University with emphasis in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
Professional Engineer (P.
E.
) license with a minimum of five years related engineering experience.
A minimum of four years related experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D.
Ability to work hours necessary to complete work within required time frames with regard to deadlines.
Computer proficient with knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word/Excel/Outlook).
Valid driver license and clean driving record.
